William Porter (1812-1899) came to Oregon in 1848 and was chief clerk of the first Territorial Legislature at Oregon City in 1849. From the guide to the William Porter diary, 1848, (Oregon Historical Society Research Library) William Porter was an Oregon pioneer who settled in Aumsville, Oregon.
